These are two of my most beloved posessions. I feel pretty guilty about them right now.
Www.sofarsochic.co.uk made a brilliant point this morning. MAC have said that they're going to change the names of the collection and donate $100,000 to a non profit organisation that has a proven track record in helping out the Juarez situation. Really? That's not in £ it's in US$. Beauty Mouth informed us that's about £15,000 less than just one of MAC's UK based stores turns over in just one week. Is that all these women are worth? Is that how sorry MAC feels about exploiting them for commercial gain?
I'm so proud of the blogosphere for making this an issue but I'm pretty disappointed in MAC. I can say with a lot of certainty that I'll be cutting up my pro card and not darkening their doorstep again. Don't even get me started on Rodarte's non response. It's not even worth wasting blog space on.
Watch this space for a little info on how you can help the women in Juarez for yourself. I'm very aware that the money I won't be spending in MAC anymore is miniscule but I'm a firm believer in making greater global change through individual actions and intent. Every single individual choice we make every day contributes to our world as a whole. Don't ever feel like you can't make a difference on your own.
Kisses,
Rebecca xxx
